CYGNSS Launched!

On the morning of December 15, 2016 at 8:37 AM EST, NASA launched a constellation of eight small satellites from a single launch vehicle, an Orbital ATK Pegasus XL rocket, from Orbital’s modified Lockheed L1011.

The CYGNSS (Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System) mission is designed to help Hurricane forecasters to better understand and forecast storm intensity with its eight microsatellites.

All eight CYGNSS satellites were contacted successfully. Full constellation redundancy has been achieved.
