“Morning After is incredibly well-placed as the finale film of Frameline42’s Bi Candy Short Film program. Well-cast, gorgeously shot, and solidly written. Morning After is a rare treat, where both gender fluidity and honest depictions of bisexuality coalesce beautifully and explodes with sexual freedom and exuberance,” says Kevin Schaub, program manager at Frameline. “It should have a very successful festival run in both LGBTQ-Film Festivals and non-niche Festivals too,” he concludes.

About Morning After

Morning After is directed by Patricia Chica, written by Kristian Hodko and produced by Patricia Chica (Flirt Films) and Byron A. Martin (Byron A. Martin Productions). It’s a bold and playful drama that explores the subject of sexual fluidity, queer energy and human desire. This poignant and moving coming-of-age tale perfectly captures the challenges and tribulations of five friends who decide to explore their sexuality and realize that they may not fall within societies’ clean-cut lines.

The Film stars five bright rising actors – Thomas Vallières (Game of Death), Zoé de Grand Maison (Orphan Black), Joey Scarpellino (The Parents), Jordana Lajoie (Patrice Lemieux 24/7) and Kristian Hodko (The Howling: Reborn) who also wrote the script. The short has won nine awards so far including Grand Prize – Ambassador’s Award (Rhode Island), Indie Spirit Award (Idyllwild) and Best Director (Oaxaca, Magnolia, Studio City) and been selected at over 60 film festivals around the world including (Festival de Cannes – Creative Minds Shorts Selection, Pula International, Image + Nation, RVQC, Hong Kong LGBT, Taiwan Queer, FilmOut, Latino San Diego, Guadalajara in LA and many more).

“I wanted to speak about human connection, energy and sexual enlightenment from a fresh perspective other than the LGBTQ or heterosexual’s points of view. I wanted to make a film about desire and arousal that would go beyond the conventional physical realm… a deeper and perhaps more spiritual approach to sexuality, self-expression and self-acceptance. Morning After is intended to leave you feeling expanded,” says director Patricia Chica.
