A newly discovered asteroid will pass safely by Earth on March 21, 2019.

Designated as 2019 EA2, the house-sized asteroid was discovered by astronomers at the Mount Lemmon Observatory outside of Tucson, Arizona on March 9, 2019.

The space rock has an estimated size of 75 feet in diameter.

Travelling through space at a speed of 12,015 miles per hour, 2019 EA2 will pass closest to Earth at 10:01 pm EDT at 190,365 miles from our planet, which is closer to Earth than the moonโ€™s distance.
