LOS ANGELES, CA — Blythe Schulte, an innovator and multi-genre composer, today announced that following the Declaration of National Emergency by President Trump to combat the coronavirus-19 pandemic, she wrote and recorded, 20-Second Scrub-a-Dub-Dub (Wash Your Hands), a 20-second jingle designed as a specific call-to-action for the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to use as their official anthem.
“I was greatly inspired by the captains of industry standing in league with our president to combat the plight of COVID-19,” stated Schulte. “I wanted to do my part by contributing a jingle that reminds people to wash their hands. It started off as a small song fragment I thought of while washing my hands. Then, I decided to write it down after reviewing the CDC guidelines for how to minimize and prevent infection. Finally, I went into my studio and recorded some layered parts and mixed the jingle. I have posted it on social media with the hashtags #CDCJingle and #WashYourHands,” she stated.
Schulte noted that she had read about so many different known songs that could be sung a couple times around to equal the recommended 20-second hand wash time, as instituted by the CDC. She remarked that it felt bizarre to wash her hands while singing Happy Birthday to herself. “I thought, what the heck, why not sing a punchy 20-second song that’s specifically a jingle about washing your hands?” The rest is recorded history: 20-Second Scrub-a-Dub-Dub stands as the only Wash Your Hands 20-second jingle.
The lyrics to the jingle are:
Wash your hands!
(Wash your hands!)
(Wash your hands!)
Wash your hands!
(Wash your hands!)
(Wash your hands!)
Lather the water and the suds on your skin
Rub ’em together for that squeaky clean win
Get rid of the germs with a
20 second scrub-a-dub-dub
Wash your hands!
(Wash your hands!)
(Wash your hands!)
Wash your hands!
(Wash your hands!)
(Wash your hands!)
20 second scrub-a-dub-dub!
“If only one person washes their hands while singing this jingle and it happens to scrub away the coronavirus, that’s an exponential win!” Schulte said. 20-Second Scrub-a-Dub-Dub (Wash Your Hands) is available for download on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. A viral video of the jingle is available on YouTube.
