MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ —ย Global Gaming Initiative and Bee The Swarm, two mobile game publishers have made it their mission to develop mobile games for social good. The first joint effort, Bugs Crush is being released September 3, 2017. The two companies have partnered up as an initial step towards building a worldwide games for good cooperative. With an increasing number of game publishers, along with app publishers more broadly, seeking to build entertainment content with a social good purpose, the two companies see it is vital to build a framework through which network effects and market leverage can be garnered. As Global Gaming Initiative CEO and TEDx speaker, Elizabeth Sarquis stated, “Right now, the industry has a lot of publishers and developers that want to use their talent in creating mobile entertainment for social good, but they are all scattered and have no coherence. Too few are working together in a deliberate way that improves the business outcomes for everyone involved. The ultimate goal with our partnership with Bee The Swarm is to provide an explicit choice for mobile users in the marketplace, a choice between standard mobile games and socially impactful mobile games.”
The two companies are continuing to develop a suite of tools for publishers and developers that join the cooperative, from advertising and cross-promotion to backend services that allows any publisher to convert their game(s) into games for good. As Rob Slaughter, CEO and Co-Founder of Bee The Swarm, put it, “We wanted to create something that allows everyone the chance to pick up their phones and change the world. And that’s better done together.”
Bugs Crush will be available on both the App and Google Play Stores, with more games appealing to all ages being released throughout the rest of the year to kick start this new collaboration. Applications for games and/or developer partners are now welcomed at [email protected].
