2021 Delta Aquariids…
Yes, it’s that time once again… Time for A Summer meteor shower, the Delta Aquariids.
Right now the shower is in progress, and the Delta Aquariids run almost the full month of July and most of August, when they overlap with the famous Perseid meteor shower.
Radiating from the constellation Aquarius, the shower will hang around for a long-time and peaks around July 29, 2021.
This shower typically provides a decent number of meteors several days following the peak and quite a few before.
The moon will be in the waning gibbous phase, in which its moonlight will wash out the faintest meteors. But, in early August, the moon is in a waxing crescent phase and will be less of an obstruction to viewers. There still should be some interesting viewing despite the moon.
The number of meteors for this shower will not significantly increase around the peak but continues passed the full moon phase. You’ll have clear viewing until the Perseids.
Around that time, the meteors will be coming from two directions. It should interesting.
