There is a fast-moving comet heading towards the Sun and the Earth’s vicinity.
On December 20, 2018, Japanese astronomer, Masayuki Iwamoto discovered a speedy comet, C/2018 Y1 Iwamoto will be closets to the Earth around February 11-12, 2019, passing us by at approximately 28 million miles.
When comet Iwamoto approaches Earth, it will be near the constellation Leo, late in the evening. At that time the comet will be travelling at an amazing speed of 148,000 mph.
C/2018 Y1 Iwamoto has an elliptical or elongated orbit, and may have come from the Oort cloud of comets surrounding our solar system.
