The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), along with Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is excited to congratulate Anthony Pegg as the winner of the “Stop Fakes” video contest. The contest was created to help promote awareness around the safety risks of using counterfeit power accessories, such as batteries, chargers, and external flashes, as well as how to avoid counterfeit products.
Entrants were asked to create an original video demonstrating their creative interpretation of one or more of 10 anti-counterfeit tips.ย The winning video was judged based on creativity, originality, effectiveness, and clarity of the “Stop Fakes” theme based on at least one of the anti-counterfeit tips.
As the grand prize winner, Mr. Pegg received a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Kit, and his video will be distributed to over 1,500 media outlets nationwide as part of the anti-counterfeit consumer awareness campaign. Mr. Pegg, who has a degree in filmmaking stated, “My intention is to hopefully prevent future photographers or videographers from making the mistake of using counterfeit electronics.”
“Including consumers has made this an exciting contest,” said Ann Harkins, president and CEO of NCPC. “To see the enthusiasm from consumers and the thought, creativity, and production quality they put into these videos about the dangers of counterfeits was impressive.”
Additionally, prizes were awarded to the first runner-up, Josh Gulden and second runner-up, Skyeler O’Brien.
