“VTrans is thrilled to be welcoming back its Amtrak trains on July 19th and looks forward to celebrating their return with celebratory events at every Amtrak train station in Vermont,” said Amtrak Grants Program Manager for the Vermont Agency of Transportation and State Coordinator of Operation Lifesaver of Vermont Toni Clithero.

Customers are also encouraged to purchase tickets via the Amtrak app, which also provides further information and the ability to book, board, check train status and access information from the convenience and safety of a mobile device. Amtrak encourages boarding with eTickets, which conductors scan from the app.

Congressman Peter Welch, Amtrak Vice President, State Supported Services Ray Lang, VTrans’ Secretary Joe Flynn, St. Albans’ Mayor Tim Smith and Village of Essex Junction Board of Trustees President Andrew Brown, among others, will be speaking at the St. Albans event.

Amtrak has made and continues to make incredible investments to come out of the pandemic as a new and improved company. Customers should be advised that Federal law requires all customers and employees to wear a mask at all times while onboard trains and the VTrans’ shuttles and in stations, regardless of vaccination status or state or local laws. Refusing to wear a mask is a violation of federal law; passengers may be subject to penalties under federal law, denied boarding, removed from the train and banned from future travel in the event of noncompliance.
