Los Angeles – Metrolink, southern California’s regional passenger rail service, today announced a marketing partnership with TransitNorth America’s top-rated app for real-time public transit information and trip planning. As an official mobility app for Metrolink and other SoCal transportation agencies, Transit provides a unified mobility option for users across the southern California region.

When using Transit, Metrolink riders can plan trips with trains, buses, light rail, scooters, bike sharing and on-demand ride services, view available options in real-time, plan multimodal trips, and determine their best transportation options. Through Transit’s step-by-step routing, real-time information, multimodal trip planning, and crowdsourcing capabilities, Metrolink is sure riders will find the app a useful addition to travel planning.

“Metrolink is making it easier for people to use public transportation and other modes of transit to get where they need to be,” said Metrolink Director of Marketing and Partnerships Monica Bouldin. “Transit provides customers with another tool to help them make the best travel decisions when moving throughout southern California.”

The Metrolink and Transit partnership provides passengers with a comprehensive, easy-to-use and widely adopted app to improve the customer experience. Transit counts millions of active users in more than 300 cities worldwide, including nearly 200,000 users in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas.

“Our mission is to help people get around without their own car. By partnering with the leading mobile app that prioritizes public transit, Metrolink is making it easier for southern California residents to get around. In a region like southern California, which has multiple mobility choices for riders, it’s important to have one app that brings it all together,” said David Block-Schachter, chief business officer at Transit. “By partnering with Transit, Metrolink is also joining forces with LA’s transit systems – providing its riders with the best in regional connectivity and multimodal trip planning and simplifying their daily commutes.”

As an essential part of southern California’s public transportation system, Metrolink provides employees transportation to and from their workplaces, helps students get to class and home, allows those with physical disabilities to be mobile, and provides families a fun trip to the beach, while helping create stronger communities throughout the region.
