RideCo Celebrates L.A. Metro’s Launch of a Metro Micro Zone in Northwest San Fernando Valley

RideCo’s on-demand transit service now serves seven service zones in L.A. County

RideCo Inc., an industry leader in on-demand transit technology and solutions, celebrates the upcoming launch of another microtransit zone in the Northwest San Fernando Valley. The launch of this zone brings the total to seven service zones under Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Metro Micro program.

Metro Micro is Metro’s new on-demand ridesharing service, designed hand-in-hand with Metro’s NextGen Bus Plan that is intended to provide fast, safe, and convenient trips around town without having to transfer.

“The continued expansion of the Metro Micro service in L.A. County shows us the power of on-demand transit,” said RideCo’s Co-founder and CEO, Prem Gururajan. “We thoroughly enjoy our partnership with LA Metro, and we are excited to contribute to the service’s continued expansion and support for riders across the county.”

The new zone will launch on September 12, and rides can be booked on the free Metro Micro app, available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store; online at book.metro-micro.net, or through the call center at 323.GO.METRO.

Service in this new zone will be available seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at an introductory rate of just $1 per ride. Hundreds of pick-up and drop-off points will be available including key destinations such as California State University – Northridge (CSUN), Northridge Recreation Center, Northridge Fashion Center, and Metro stations.

Metro Micro will also merge the Watts/Willowbrook and Compton/Artesia zones into one large zone called the Watts/Compton zone, which will operate from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.

There are now multiple Metro Micro zones across L.A. County, including the newly consolidated zone of Watts/Compton, LAX/Inglewood, El Monte, North Hollywood/Burbank, Highland Park/Eagle Rock/Glendale, and Altadena/Pasadena/Sierra Madre. Another zone, UCLA/Westwood/VA Medical Center, is expected to launch shortly as part of the Metro Micro service.
