On October 16, 2018, a NASA scientist captured aerial images of a sharp cornered iceberg in Antarctica, that almost resembled the monolith from the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. He posted the pictures on social media.
The images were captured during Operation IceBridge, NASA’s longest-running aerial survey of polar ice, when they flew over the northern Antarctic Peninsula.
The survey was designed to assess changes in the ice height of several glaciers draining into the Larsen A, B and C embayments.
During the survey, the scientist spotted a very sharp-angled, tabular iceberg floating among sea ice just off of the Larsen C ice shelf.:
The odd shaped iceberg has the appearance of being geometrically designed. It’s not aliens according to the scientists. NASA says that it is a natural occurrence.
